Rufus grew up under an unequal old kingdom and joined a rebellion against aristocratic oppression.

After the kingdom fell, he led a mercenary group but avoided cruelty, earning the loyalty of honorable fighters like Gina.

He vanished after taking a secret commission to escort a client underground; later he lived in an underground settlement before eventually returning to the surface.
